Caio Duilio was the second ship of the Andrea Doria class, commissioned in 1915. Between 1937 and 1940 she was rebuilt almost from the keel up, with a new bow, new machinery and ten 320 mm guns. This kit models her as rebuilt.
She was badly damaged by British torpedo bombers in the attack on Taranto in November 1940, repaired, and escorted convoys to North Africa. After the 1943 armistice she served with the Italian Navy until 1956.
