HMS Royal Sovereign was one of the five Revenge-class battleships, often called the Royal Sovereign class, completed in 1916. They carried the same eight 15-inch guns in four twin turrets as the Queen Elizabeths, on a shorter and slower hull.

She joined the Grand Fleet just too late for Jutland. In the Second World War she escorted convoys in the Atlantic and Mediterranean and served with the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean. In 1944 she was lent to the Soviet Navy as Arkhangelsk, and she was scrapped after her return in 1949. This kit models her in her Second World War appearance.
