Vanguard was the largest and last battleship built for the Royal Navy, commissioned in 1946. To get her to sea quickly she was given the four twin 15-inch turrets removed from Courageous and Glorious when those ships became carriers.
She carried the royal family on their 1947 tour of South Africa and spent most of her career as a flagship and training ship. She was sold for scrap in 1960.
