Musashi was the second Yamato-class battleship, commissioned in 1942. She and her sister were the largest and most heavily armed battleships ever built, each carrying nine 46 cm guns.
She served as flagship of the Combined Fleet in 1943. During the Battle of Leyte Gulf she was hit by around 19 torpedoes and 17 bombs in the Sibuyan Sea and sank on 24 October 1944.
