Nagato was commissioned in 1920 as the first battleship in the world to carry 16-inch guns, and with her sister Mutsu she was the pride of the Japanese navy between the wars. She was rebuilt in the 1930s with torpedo bulges and new machinery, and was Admiral Yamamoto's flagship at the start of the Pacific War.
Nagato was the only Japanese battleship still afloat at the surrender in 1945, and she was sunk in the Bikini atomic tests in 1946. This is a combat-scale hull: the bulges have been smoothed within IRCWCC rules, and it can be built as either Nagato or Mutsu.
