Nevada was commissioned in 1916 and introduced the all-or-nothing armor scheme and triple turrets to the US Navy. She was the only battleship to get underway during the attack on Pearl Harbor, and she was beached to keep from blocking the channel.

Rebuilt, she supported the landings at Attu, Normandy, southern France, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She survived both atomic tests at Bikini in 1946 and was sunk as a target in 1948.
