North Carolina was the first American battleship completed after the Washington Treaty building holiday, commissioned in 1941 with nine 16-inch guns. She escorted carriers across the Pacific, fought at the Eastern Solomons, and earned 15 battle stars.
She was decommissioned in 1947 and has been a museum ship in Wilmington, North Carolina, since 1961.
