Tennessee was commissioned in 1920 with twelve 14-inch guns and was among the first American battleships designed with the lessons of Jutland. She was moored inboard of West Virginia at Pearl Harbor and survived with relatively light damage.
She was rebuilt in 1942 and 1943, supported landings from the Aleutians to Okinawa, and fought at Surigao Strait. She was sold for scrap in 1959.
