Exeter was a York-class heavy cruiser commissioned in 1931 with six 8-inch guns. This kit also covers her near-sister, HMS York.
She was badly damaged fighting the Admiral Graf Spee at the Battle of the River Plate in December 1939. Repaired, she was sunk by Japanese cruisers and destroyers in the Second Battle of the Java Sea on 1 March 1942.
