Kirov was the lead ship of the first Soviet-built cruisers, commissioned in 1938 with nine 180 mm guns in three triple turrets, developed with Italian help.
She took part in the Winter War and helped defend Leningrad, surviving German bombing in the Baltic. She later served as a training ship and was scrapped in the 1970s.
